M.M. YUSUF DEBATE 2010

INTRODUCTION

M. M. Yusif debate is a programme designed to create a forum for exchange of ideas between students from different disciplines in the university.

The objective of the programme is another personal contribution of M. M. Yusif in association with multiplex limited. Specifically the aim is to empower the capacity of the students to face the challenges of increasingly globalizing world. Once, I told my students who graduated in 2005 that the world is moving very fast, they must move faster otherwise they would be left behind. The debate is an attempt to give the students of Bayero University, Kano Nigeria a push to move faster to meet the fast moving global society.

Proposed Topics

1. Genetically modified food: for human development or to kill development.
   
2. Biofuels: a source of energy or of hunger.
   
3. Economic developments VS the environment: Benefits and Dangers
   
4. Regionalism: Enhances globalization or obstacle to globalization.
   
5. Clash of Civilizations: Myth or reality.

Terms of References

It is going to be a competition to bring out the first, second and third positions. Preferably Departmental Associations. There is going to be an award for each of the positions. You are however, to come out with suggestions on how to be conducted, which of the above topics and when.

You are allowed to make any recommendation for the success of the programme.
