Introduction

Politics is a master science said Herbert I. Spiro, Professor of Political Science, University of Pennsylvania, United State of America.

Whereas the name came from a discourse in political theory, but it has captured development of modern Political Science.

Spiro has observed that “as the Western Political Tradition grows it became increasingly differentiated, and this is known by changes in the vocabulary of political philosophy”.  And of course of political science in general.

Political theory Spiro noted is a great conversation and debate.  In line with this it could be seen as dialectic which does not give even the economy a monist superior importance in human activities.

From there would spring the idea of politics/political sciences beyond the American perspective of political science, to going back to Aristotelian era of politics as any human activities economics, social, environmental, religious, psychological, etc, to facilitate understanding social relations between man and nature.

This gives political science a pluralistic status as political sciences.  It justifies this, first because it is a study of everything between man and man as well as man and nature and secondly it is a science which borrows its methods from other social sciences which gives it a label as “a mad man in the market”.

Here is a Presentation of Undergraduate Research Reports 2016 on the politics of energy and climate change.

In this academic year (2015-2016) 15 students have worked on the said area, each on a different research topic.

Politics of energy and climate change is examined from perspective of development showing in that the relationship between developed and developing countries.  Thus, issues about transfer of technology, especially the climate mitigation technologies as well as the consequences on health and agriculture and on water resources in the developing countries are examined.

Other important issues are the conflicts among the people as a result of climate change, and from further international focus, the Paris deal and the future, the growth of Carbon trade and the role of World Trade Organisation in the management of energy and climate change.

The method adopted by all of them is Secondary Analysis.  That is the reformulation and critical assessment of the existing literature on the concepts of the researches to explain the research questions and the propositions of the study.

This method exposed the students to Online resources which bring back the point I raised in previous reports that in Bayero University, Kano, there is need of Online check up facilities to check, verify and capture the work which is not original especially of Postgraduate study and other contributions by academics.
